A summer of musical [disc]overy

Summer Music Discovery

From Top to Bottom: The Notwist, Simian Mobile Disco, Harmonic 313, The Field, The Presets, Miike Snow, Empire of the Sun, Koushik, Tiga, Bat for Lashes, Discovery, Ghostland Observatory, Au Revoir Simone, The Airborne Toxic Event, Thieves Like Us, Hercules and Love Affair, Above & Beyond, Autechre

Wow — Looking back on these last few months, I’ve added one helluvah collection to my already robust pre-existing music arsenal, as partially evidenced by the photo to your right.  [And folks, that doesn’t even begin to capture all of the CDs, mp3s/4s, and concert tickets I’ve accrued this summer that are now a part of my music repertoire!!]

It saddens me to think that summer has now come and gone.  And what a crazy journey it’s been — one that has its own soundtrack fueled by memories of good friends, meeting new friends, partaking in impromptu dance parties, driving with the windows down, training for and running the SF Marathon, attending weddings, concerts and after-parties, late night noshing, scheduling 11th hour trips, time spent at various airports + baggage claims, and several sushi dinners, to name a few.

Labor Day Weekend marks the unofficial end to summer and the summer of 2009 is one for the books; one that has most definitely earned its own soundtrack.

Let’s hope that Fall of ’09 can live up to its sister season.  Gazing to what’s on the horizon, the future is looking bright.
